Simple Things That Make Me Happy

In this fast-paced changing world, people often ignore simple things. We seem to be in such a hurry that everything becomes a blur and we don’t even notice anything anymore.

I’ve found out that there are simple things that I can do to make me happier when the going gets tough. Here are some :

1. Become Active.  If your mood is down, get up. Stretch that leg, take that well deserved coffee break or go for a walk. Pump up your energy level!

2. Communicate With Friends. Browsing through the web, I noticed that I immediately light up when I get an email or a message from old friends. Catch up about old times and go down memory lane. I also think of people that I’ve lost contact with, some who I felt have hurt me and I send them emails. It lightens up my mood and  I feel happier inside.

3. Deal With Pending Problems. There are things that we set aside because we can’t seem to deal with it for now. These things end up piling up one after the other and it would seem too much to handle. I think that coming up clean and confronting the problems is better because it would give me peace of mind. Do it one small step at a time.

4. Do Something Good. I don’t do good things just to have people say I’m a good person. It always benefits me rather than other people when I know that I did something that made other people happy. As they say, you get what you give.

5. Try to Act Happy.  I smile. I complement other people. Even when I’m not feeling happy, I fake it until I get used to it. Happiness is a matter choice!

6. Read Positive Things. I’m a voracious reader and sometimes I don’t notice that I’m already reading too much negative news that I suddenly fell less than happy. So I read quotes, go to funny sites and even try to search for jokes. ” Change your thoughts and you change your world.”

There may be other simple things that we do to give us a hint of smile or a light hearted feeling. It’s how we appreciate these things that is important.
